WHAT IS THE TRAVEL EXHIBIT?

The travel exhibit consists of 10 banner stands. This display guides viewers through the social and historical context leading up to the scottsboro case AND the details of this pivotal civil rights event. We created this exhibit to extend a piece of our museum to communities around the world. our hope is to collaborate with LOCAL INSTITUTIONS/ORGANIZATIONS TO providE a free history exhibit for all ages. MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE WANT TO SHARE THE STORY OF THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THEIR STORY.

 booking requirements

  • The cost is dependent on location, duration, and number/types of accompanying programs. For more information regarding cost, fill out the interest form below and we can talk through those details in our intake meeting.  

  • A representative from the museum will transport and set up the banners in the provided space before the exhibit opening. The partnering organization only has to make entry available to the space and communicate location requirements in the space.

  • We ask that for local exhibits (within a 6 hour radius via car) the exhibit stand for no less than 4 weeks. For exhibits that require more travel, we ask that the exhibit remain installed for a minimum of 10 weeks.

  • Yes. We add banners or other artworks that connect the exhibit to the location it is being shown. We also ask that we add a small free standing sign in support of our museum, with a qr code that takes the viewer to our website. And, we like to put out a comment box in order to receive feedback from folks who engage with the exhibit.  

  • Yes. We ask that each venue help organize at least one event while the installation is up. This event can be a range of things and will be decided in advance through communication/ collaboration of the museum and host location.
